Emergency messaging

Emergency alert signage that overrides every selected screen

When something goes wrong, you need one message on every screen right away. DigitalSign's emergency override supersedes all other content on the screens you choose and stays up until you clear it.

First 3 screens free. No credit card.

01

Emergency beats everything

Emergency is the highest priority, 100, and supersedes every schedule, promotion and takeover on the targeted screens.

02

Choose where it shows

Target every screen, one location, a region or a screen group, depending on who needs the message.

03

Prepared in advance

Design lockdown, evacuation, weather and closure messages ahead of time so sending one takes seconds.

04

Clear it and resume

When the situation ends, clear the override and screens return to their regular schedule.

How the emergency override works

Every piece of content in DigitalSign has a priority: Normal is 10, Promotion is 50 and Emergency is 100. The schedule resolver always plays the highest matching priority, and an emergency supersedes everything, including takeover campaigns. Choose an alert, choose the screens, and send it. It stays on those screens until you clear it, then each screen goes back to whatever its schedule says should be playing.

  • Priority 100 supersedes all other content
  • Target all screens, locations or groups
  • Stays up until you clear it
  • Screens resume their schedule afterward

Prepare your messages before you need them

In an emergency, nobody should be designing a slide. Build a set of high-contrast alert scenes in advance: shelter in place, evacuate, severe weather, building closed, all clear. Describe each to the AI Designer for a fast first draft, then tighten the wording with your safety team. Save them as templates so every location uses the same approved language and layout.

  • High-contrast, large-type alert designs
  • Saved templates for each scenario
  • Portrait and landscape versions
  • An "all clear" message ready to follow

Confirm the alert is on screen

After sending an alert, the dashboard shows each targeted screen's status and last heartbeat. Take a remote screenshot to confirm the message is displaying, and refresh any screen that has not updated. Turn displays on remotely if they were off. Screens that are offline when you send cannot receive a new message until they reconnect, so wired Ethernet is a good choice for safety-critical displays.

  • Online and offline status for every target
  • Remote screenshot to verify display
  • Remote refresh and display on
  • Offline screens update when they reconnect

What it does not replace

DigitalSign is a visual messaging layer, not a life-safety system. It does not connect to fire alarm panels or mass-notification platforms, and it should not be your only way to alert people. Webhook triggers through the planned API are on the roadmap, which would let another system send an alert automatically. Today, an authorized user sends the override from the dashboard.

  • Complements, not replaces, alarm systems
  • No fire panel or mass-notification integration
  • Webhook triggers planned
  • Sent manually from the dashboard today

How it works

Live on screen in three steps

  1. 1

    Prepare your alerts

Design and save an alert scene for each scenario you plan for.

  2. 2

    Send the override

Pick the alert and target screens, and it supersedes everything.

  3. 3

    Verify and clear

Confirm with screenshots, then clear the alert when it is over.

FAQ

Emergency alerts: common questions

How fast does an emergency alert reach screens?

Online screens pick up the override as soon as they receive the change from the server. Use remote screenshots to confirm each one is showing it.

Does the alert override promotions and takeovers?

Yes. Emergency is the highest priority and supersedes all other content on the targeted screens, including takeover campaigns.

Can I send an alert to just one building?

Yes. Target any combination of locations, regions or screen groups, or every screen in the account.

Does DigitalSign integrate with our fire alarm or mass notification system?

No. There is no fire panel or mass-notification integration. Webhook triggers through a planned API would let other systems send alerts in the future.

What happens to screens that are offline?

An offline screen keeps playing its cached content and cannot receive the alert until it reconnects. Wired connections are recommended for safety-critical screens.

Is the emergency override included in every plan?

Emergency priority is part of the scheduling engine and included on every plan, including the free three screens.
