01

Directional boards from a prompt

Describe the destinations and arrows you need, and the AI Designer lays out three clear, readable options.

02

Change routes without reprinting

When a department moves or a room changes, edit the board and publish it to every screen that uses it.

03

Event-day directions on schedule

Schedule event wayfinding for the date and hours it applies, and your regular directory returns afterward.

04

Clear evacuation messaging

An emergency override supersedes all content on the screens you select until you clear it.

Design directional screens quickly

Good wayfinding is short, high contrast and consistent. Describe what a screen needs, such as "directory for floor two, radiology to the left, labs straight ahead, large arrows", and the AI Designer produces three variations as editable scenes. Keep refining with plain language: "bigger arrows", "make it portrait", "add the floor number". Save a design as a template so every floor follows the same format.

  • Three layouts per description
  • Portrait designs for freestanding totems
  • Save layouts as templates for consistency
  • Shapes, arrows, text and images in the editor

Directions that follow the calendar

Buildings change through the week. Use the scheduler to show a standard directory most of the time and event directions when they matter: registration routes for a conference morning, parking guidance on game day, or a different entrance after hours. Date ranges, recurrence and priorities decide what wins, and the regular directory comes back on its own when the event ends.

  • Date ranges and recurring schedules
  • Promotion priority for event-day directions
  • Temporary overrides for closures
  • Separate schedules per location or screen group

Scope and what this is not

DigitalSign wayfinding is display signage: clear, scheduled, directional screens that people read as they walk past. It does not provide touch-screen directories or interactive maps. If you already publish a building map on the web, you can show that page in a webpage scene today. Planned data connections, starting with generic JSON, CSV and REST feeds, will let room assignments flow into designs automatically.

  • Display-only directional screens
  • Webpage scenes for an existing online map
  • Data-driven room listings planned
  • Works alongside your printed static signs

Manage every sign from one dashboard

Organize screens by building, floor or wing and see each one's status, current content and last heartbeat. A remote screenshot shows what a visitor sees at that sign. Refresh, restart or clear the cache from the dashboard. Each player stores content locally, so directions stay on screen if the building network drops. During an emergency, a single override can replace every selected sign with evacuation guidance.

  • Locations, groups and tags
  • Remote screenshot, refresh and restart
  • Offline cache for network interruptions
  • Emergency override across selected screens

How it works

Live on screen in three steps

  1. 1

    Describe each sign

Tell the AI Designer the destinations and directions for a location.

  2. 2

    Schedule the variations

Set your standard directory and event-day directions on the timeline.

  3. 3

    Pair and place

Pair each display with its on-screen code and assign it to a location.

FAQ

Wayfinding signage: common questions

What is digital wayfinding signage?

It is a set of screens that show directions and destinations in a building or campus. Unlike printed signs, you can change them from a dashboard when rooms or routes change.

Does DigitalSign support touch-screen directories?

No. DigitalSign wayfinding is display signage that people read in passing. It does not include interactive or touch directories.

Can I show our existing campus map?

Yes, if it is on the web. Add the map page to a scene as a webpage or iframe and schedule it like any other content.

Can wayfinding change for a specific event?

Yes. Schedule event directions for a date range and time window at a higher priority. The regular directory returns automatically afterward.

Can room listings update automatically from our system?

Not yet. Data connections are planned, starting with generic JSON, CSV and REST feeds. Today you edit listings in the editor.

What display should I use for a wayfinding totem?

Any portrait-mounted display that runs a modern browser, or one with an Android or Google TV device connected. Choose a bright, 4K-capable panel for busy concourses.
