Browser player

A digital signage player that runs in any modern web browser

Open player.digitalsign.co on a smart TV, PC or streaming stick and it becomes a signage player. Pair it with a code, and it caches content locally so it keeps playing when the network drops.

First 3 screens free. No credit card.

01

Nothing to install

Open player.digitalsign.co in a modern browser and the screen is ready to pair. It can also be installed as a PWA.

02

Pair with a code

The screen shows a code like 8FJ2-KP9. Enter it in your dashboard and the screen is connected.

03

Offline-first playback

Content is downloaded, checked and stored locally, so the screen keeps playing if the server or network disappears.

04

Remote control included

Refresh, take a screenshot, restart the player or clear its cache from the dashboard.

How pairing works

The browser player is the first and most widely compatible way to run DigitalSign. Open player.digitalsign.co on the device connected to your display. It shows a short pairing code, such as 8FJ2-KP9. In your dashboard, add a screen, type the code, and choose its location and orientation. The player connects, downloads the content assigned to that screen, and starts playing. No app store, no USB stick, no on-site configuration beyond opening a URL.

  • Open player.digitalsign.co on the display
  • Enter the on-screen code in your dashboard
  • Set location, orientation and screen group
  • Install as a PWA where the browser supports it

Built to keep playing offline

Signage that depends on a live connection goes black at the worst moment. The player fetches a manifest of everything it needs, downloads each asset, validates checksums, stores it locally and confirms the sync before playing. From then on it plays from that local cache. If the network or server goes away, it keeps running the current schedule, including dayparts, and syncs changes when it reconnects. Webpage scenes still need a connection to load fresh pages.

  • Manifest, download and checksum validation
  • Plays from local storage
  • Keeps the schedule running offline
  • Syncs changes on reconnect

What to look for in a device

Almost any current smart TV, PC or streaming stick with an up-to-date browser can run the player. For a smooth experience, choose a 4K-capable display if people read it from a distance, a device with 2 GB of RAM or more, and enough free storage for your videos. Use wired Ethernet when you can, and set the device to open the player on startup and to never sleep.

  • Wired Ethernet when possible
  • Auto-start and no sleep settings

FAQ

Web browser / PWA: common questions

Which browsers does the player support?

Current versions of the major browsers, including Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox. Older built-in TV browsers may not be supported.

Does the browser player work offline?

Yes. It stores content locally and keeps playing its schedule from that cache if the connection drops. Webpage scenes need a connection to load fresh content.

Can I control a browser player remotely?

Yes. Refresh, screenshot, restart the player and clear cache are available from the dashboard. Device-level commands such as reboot or display power depend on what the device allows.

Is the browser player free?

Yes. The player itself costs nothing. You pay per active screen beyond the first three.

Will the player start on its own after a power cut?

That depends on the device. Set it to launch the browser to player.digitalsign.co on startup and the screen picks up where it left off.
